The impact that COVID-19 is having on our beloved music community is staggering. No one could’ve predicted the sudden loss and impact that this would have. We want to help raise funds for these music industry professionals to help with the sudden financial loss.
To that end we want to show our support in any way that we can. Below is a list of the activities we have been undertaking, and support that is available to you.
Given that Torch Fest had to be postponed (we’re working on a new date), we brought the idea of Torch Songs to life, online. We put on a 13 hours how, online featuring 48 artists, comedians and mental health professionals. We raised money directly for the artists and will be putting on another show soon.
The Songwriting Prize (Australia’s only mental health songwriting competition) returned in 2020 for its 5th year, with regional semi final events in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
We opened entries earlier than usual, on 23rd March, to give those in isolation another avenue/focus for their songwriting.
All proceeds from The Songwriting Prize albums are now being redirected to all featuring artists. Historically these have come to us as a charity to continue the work we do, but we feel the artists need this money more than us at present. Please listen and share the playlist/albums that feature the Grand Finalists from the past 4 years of our event.
