10 Artists. 10 Stories. One Community.
Backing the minds behind Australian music.
Across 10 regional cities in 2026, independent songwriters brought their rawest, most vulnerable truths
to the stage through The Songwriting Prize. From 21 October to 25 November, we are celebrating
the impact of their stories and raising vital funds to expand safe, supportive spaces for music creators in 2027.
Why Grassroots Support Matters
Independent creators—especially those in regional and remote communities—face mounting pressures, isolation, and financial barriers. The Songwriting Prize is more than a stage; it’s a national movement designed to foster mental health literacy, combat isolation, and ensure no songwriter has to walk through the dark alone.
We run a remarkably lean, high-impact operational model. While over $\$70,000$ in career-changing prize value is fully gifted by our generous industry partners, delivering safe, judgment-free performance spaces across 10 regional cities carries real-world touring costs—from live tech engineers and venue hires to travel and local media coverage.
"When artists are supported emotionally and creatively, the entire music ecosystem thrives. Every dollar contributed directly underwrites our essential touring costs, keeps the program accessible, and powers our expansion into brand-new regional communities and upcoming artist initiatives in 2027."
